Cottage Bedroom Makeover + Kohl’s Giveaway
For the past month I have been giving our master bedroom a really fun makeover! Kohls was so generous to partner with me on this project, and there is a GIVEAWAY from them at the end of this post.
Here is what the bedroom liked like just before we moved in last fall…
It was very dark and desperately needed an update.
And the after…
I painted the entire room, including the trim, Simply White by Benjamin Moore (I used semi-gloss for the trim and satin for the walls and ceiling). Simply White is my new favorite paint color.
The beautiful chandelier is from Kohls, and I love it so much. It’s perfect for the low ceilings in the room, and it adds the right amount of bling without being too feminine.
The planked wall in the back isn’t actually real wood planks. *surprise!* I just used a paint pen to make the lines, and it looks surprisingly real! I’ll be posting a tutorial for this super easy but high impact project in the next week or two.
I created this side table using an old piece of wood and some rope. I initially was looking for a small dresser but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. Then I saw my friend Claudia’s side table on Instagram and knew it was what the space needed. I’m going to be posting a tutorial about this as well in the next few weeks.
I don’t have much time right now to go out and shop for things, so I used a lot of decor items that I already had, and I also bought some new things online.
The room now feels like a breath of fresh air! I love the slanted ceilings which limits my options a little but adds so much coziness.
I took The Nester’s online class called The Cozy Minimalist, and that helped me think about what I wanted to incorporate in the room and how to lay out the space. I highly recommend the class if you want some ideas on how to decorate your home. I love everything the Nester does, so it was no surprise that it was very helpful!
Here are some of the sources for things that are in the room:
- Mirror
- White bookcase
- Baskets for the bookcase
- Chandelier
- White comforter
- Gray chair
- Curtains
- Gray throw
- “Be Joyful” sign
