One Room at a Time
Before we moved into our new house, I decided to paint a few rooms to make them feel like “us”. So much of the house is a work-in-progress (hello future kitchen and bathroom remodel), but I wanted to have a space in our house to go to that I loved when everything else felt undone and incomplete.
Basically, I need pretty spaces or I go a little bit crazy.
Enter the family room.
Here is what it looked like when we first saw it…
It really didn’t need a lot of work compared to the rest of the house. I painted the stained trim (five coats!) in Simply White by Benjamin Moore and the walls are now BM Gray Owl, the same as our previous house.
The paint freshened up the space and made it feel a lot lighter. And you know I’m all about LIGHT and BRIGHT.
The stone fireplace wouldn’t be my first choice, and I had a little bit of angst about it in the beginning, but it’s starting to grow on me. It’s a lot of brown for me. But it’s going to be beautiful at Christmastime. The floors were in amazing shape, which was awesome. I finished hanging artwork and did some decorating this week. It’s still not totally done, but I wanted to show you how the space is shaping up.
