Ok, so it had been too long since I had a fun little decorating project to work on, and I was itching to do something around the house.
We have this little area underneath the steps that wasn’t getting properly used, and I’ve been wanting to create an area where the kids can hang all their coats easily and within their reach. I dream of having a mudroom someday, but until then, this works.
I should have made this before winter started. Oh, well. Better late than never.

First, I tore out pages of several old books that I found at yardsales/thrift stores and attached them to the wall randomly using double sided tape. I considered using Mod Podge, but I didn’t want to mess up the walls.

I made the hook board out of an old piece of wood, then attached hooks that I bought at Target. I painted the numbers on the wood using my carbon paper method and a paint pen.

I’ve got to say that taping book pages onto a wall when you have young children living in the house is probably not wise. Or practical. Or smart. But I didn’t let that stop me. Ha!
My 17 month old has already torn a bunch of the pages at the bottom, but I just keep taping them back up, because I really like how the book pages look! I’m such a girl, I know. Hopefully she will learn to leave it alone!

So, there you have it. A little, random area of the house that is finally functional. Now, what could I work on next??? Hmmm…
