My favorite Pinterest boards
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I'm sure I'm not alone in my love of Pinterest. It is incredibly helpful as I plan out ideas for my home, DIY and of course recipes! I came up a lot of my ideas for our new mudroom cabinets by searching Pinterest. Many of the decor ideas I used in the coffee shop that I designed last year came from Pinterest as well. I've become so dependent on it, so I thought I'd share my favorite Pinterest boards in case you'd like to follow them as well!
1. Do-It-Yourself Projects Board - I post DIY ideas that I want to try here.
2. Kitchen Ideas Board - I'm constantly finding new decor ideas for the kitchen that I post here.
3. Gardening Ideas Board - Gardening is definitely my favorite hobby right now, and I'm especially obsessed with it this time of year!
4. Aimee Weaver Designs Board - If you need ideas for a sign, you'll find loads of inspiration on this board! This is where I post lots of our custom signs.

Our mudroom cabinets
We have a fairly large mudroom that was added to our home before we moved in, and we've always wanted to install some cabinetry to make good use of the space. We looked into getting some cheap cabinets from IKEA, but decided it would be a better idea to find used cabinets that were better quality, since they will get used heavily.
Here's what the finished project looks like!
We looked at Craiglist and found this large entertainment center. The cabinets were in great shape, so we decided to buy them. We got a good deal on them, because my husband took them out so that the homeowners didn't have to. He worked as a cabinet installer in his previous job, so he has lots of experience in that line of work. Lucky for me!
It didn't cost us much for the cabinetry (a few hundred dollars), but it did take a lot of time to reconfigure the cabinets to make them work for our space. That's something my husband is great at doing. He painted them Benjamin Moore Simply White in the Advance quality (satin finish), which is specifically made for doors, trim and cabinetry. I highly recommend it! It doesn't show the brush strokes and is super durable.
After the cabinets were done, he installed a piece of walnut wood for the bench that he happened to have on hand. We found some leftover old wood in our little horse barn that we used to create the shiplap behind the bench.
The sign is from our shop here.
Now each child has a hook for their coat and a hook for their backpack. He also created cubbies inside one of the cabinets for their gloves and hats. We wanted to have space for their shoes and boots, so he made room for them under the bench.
We love how this project turned out! It definitely took time to put together, but I would highly recommend checking around for used cabinetry if you are wanting some custom cabinets in your home. It was worth the work!
New signs!
I added some new signs to the shop this week! I created some hobby signs that are perfect for the guy in your life that is hard to shop for. These are especially great as a gift for Father's Day or as a gift for a boss.
Our new family timeline sign is the perfect way to personalize your space! These make really meaningful anniversary gifts!

Bed Sheet Curtains (inexpensive and no sew!)
I recently painted our dining room (see post here) and my old curtains didn't work with the new wall paint color. I didn't want to spend much money on new curtains, so I decided to try making curtains out of bed sheets. Then I saw @the_fetching_farmhouse on Instagram talking about how she used flat bed sheets from Walmart to create curtains for her home too. So I ordered flat sheets from Walmart like she did, and they worked perfectly!
There is an extra wide window and a regular sized window in our dining room, so these are the sizes I ordered:
- 2 white flat sheets (Mainstays brand) in twin size (for the smaller window) at $6.06 each
- 2 white flat sheets (Mainstays brand) in double size (for the larger window) at $9.47 each
The twin and double size sheets are the same length at 96" long, which was perfect for my windows. The double size is a bit wider than the twin. Here are the dimensions that the sheets come in:
- Twin dimensions: 66” x 96”
- Full dimensions: 81” x 96”
- Queen dimensions: 90” x 102”
- King dimensions: 108” x 102”
If you have higher ceilings, the queen and king size sheets are longer and will work better for you. I like my curtains to hang just at the floor or to pool slightly, like they do here. I also like to use curtain rod rings with clips, because they slide nicely making it easy to open and close the curtains.
The curtain rods are available on Amazon here, and the rings are from here.
The curtains are beautiful and look nothing like bed sheets when they are hung! They are a nice thickness and a really great quality. I've loved them so far! I spent less than $35 for all the curtains, which is a great deal.
Sign Workshop at New Holland Coffee Co.
I've been leading a number of sign workshop locally, and the latest one was at the beautiful space at New Holland Coffee Co. We had lots of girlfriend groups come, and we had a really good time!
At every workshop, there are people who are very nervous about painting the sign, but they always end up enjoying it and doing a great job! It's so much fun for me to watch them gain confidence in their ability to create something like this.
We have another sign workshop coming up at New Holland Coffee Co. on February 8, 2019 and you can find more info here. I hope you'll join us!

Dining Room Refresh
I am typically a lover of light wall colors, but I don't know if it's because we are in the middle of winter or what, but I got inspired to paint a room in my house a very dark color and I decided on my dining room. It was originally painted Benjamin Moore Gray Owl, which I love, but I wanted something darker for a change.
I saw a dark gray color that I really liked on Instagram and decided to give it a try. It's Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze, and it's the perfect dark gray color! It has brown undertones and is a really nice neutral.

Here is what it looked like before:

Like I said, I did really like the original color, but I was in the mood for a switch. If you'd like to see how I made over the table, you can find the tutorial here. The plant is a ficus that I just bought. I liked the leaves of it, because it reminds me of an olive tree, which is what I really wanted, but they are high-maintenance, so I decided to go with something that will hopefully do well there.

I have a buffet along the one wall that actually used to be a shop work table that we found along the side of the road for free. You can see how I refinished it here. It's so handy to store my extra dishes that I use for entertaining! I love the texture of the wood on it as well as the metal shelves.

We have a small coffee station on the other side of the room with a cabinet that I found at Goodwill and painted. The wine bottle hanger was from HomeGoods.

Girls Room Refresh With DIY Hanging Bed
This year for Christmas we decided to make a bed for our oldest daughter Avery. She had been sharing a bed with her little sister, and it was time for her to have her own little space. Their bedroom is a fairly big size, and we had room to add a twin-sized bed in there. I decided to make the space boho-inspired and a bit more grown up than it was before.
We made the bed out of reclaimed wood, basically just making a box out of the wood for the mattress to set on. We bought a hybrid mattress (includes a spring inside the mattress) from Amazon here. And the bedding is from Beddy's, which I love. It's a comforter and sheet set all-in-one and zips around the sides kind of like a sleeping bag. It keeps the bed looking so much neater than using regular blankets and sheets. I highly recommend it!
.
The macrame plant hanger was actually made by my mom back in the 70's! She held onto it for all these years. I wanted to use it as a shelf, so we put a round piece of wood inside it, and we use it for books.
The sign is available in our shop here.

Our Christmas Family Room
Christmas Decorated Bedroom
I don't typically start decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving, but for some reason this year I was in the mood to start a bit earlier. I think it's because the weather has been really cold, and it feels like winter is here. I decided to work on the master bedroom first.
I hung faux greenery on the curtain rod and put some natural elements in the room like pine cones and a dried magnolia wreath.
I still love my faux shiplap wall behind the bed. I created it using only a Sharpie marker, and you can find my tutorial here.
I found this flocked artificial tree at Walmart that is super affordable. I love the size for the bedroom! It's 6' tall and great for a small space. The sign is from our Christmas collection here.
I received a new set of sheets from California Design Den and love them! They are nice and thick and really comfortable. You can find them on Amazon here.
