We got the best news we could have hoped for just before Christmas! We got matched with a sweet little boy living in an orphanage in China! It was probably the most exciting phone call I’ve ever gotten! And such a surreal experience to open our email and find pictures of him.

We received very little information on his health and development, so we had the opportunity to ask some questions before we accepted the referral. It took more than two week to get the information back (two very loooong weeks!), but all along, I just knew he was our’s. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind.

Finally, we received more information last week, and we said “YES!”!! We are now on our way to officially adopting our little guy. It’s been such an exciting time for our family. Suddenly after two long years, we know his face and he has a name. And we want him home. NOW.

We’ve just been told that we will likely be traveling in April to bring him home. Originally, we thought we might have to wait up to six months to travel, but our referral paperwork went through very quickly. So now we are working on more paperwork and making plans for our trip. While it is so exciting, it’s also scary and full of questions. He has a cleft lip and palate, so he will need surgeries when we comes home. Otherwise, he is doing well physically.

But he needs our family and he needs our home and his brother and sisters. Here is part of a photo we received of him.

We can’t show his face until he is officially our’s, but if you saw his eyes, you could tell that he needs his mama. And we need him. April can’t come soon enough.
